School Paraprofessional (Aide) Qualifications Information

Paraprofessional License Requirements:
*At least 19 years of age
*ONE of the following:
– Associate’s Degree or higher
– 60 semester hours of coursework
– High School Diploma OR GED and a score of 460 on the ETS Parapro Test
– High School Diploma OR GED and the following scores on the ACT Workkeys:
Applied Mathematics/Applied Math (with a score of 4)
Reading for Information/Workplace Documents (with a score of 4)
A $100.00 fee will be assessed by the Illinois State Board of Education when you register your license.
Paraprofessional licenses are valid for 5 years and are renewable.

Mid-State Special Education serves as a testing site for the ETS Paraprofessional Test. The test fee is $55.00. If you are interested in making an appointment to take the ETS Paraprofessional Test please contact Shay Jones at 217 526 8121 ext. 225 .
